To that, we say: This is some bullshit.
It penalizes families for choosing to have children, specifically mothers who take an immediate hit on their earnings—not to mention their physical and mental health.
It hurts babies, whose mothers are forced back to work–one in four mothers in the US returns to work after only two weeks, which negatively impacts bonding, breastfeeding and other factors that contribute to long-term health.
And it hurts businesses, especially small ones, who are forced to carry the financial burden of offering this basic human right to their employees.
It’s misogynistic, short-sighted, and, frankly, dangerous for families and for society in general.
